Thailand's Food and Ingredients Industry Expands as Exports Exceed Expectations. Informa Markets Is Set to Elevate ProPak Asia 2025 as a Premier Regional Trade Platform, Showcasing the Latest Technologies in Food Processing and Manufacturing Across the Entire Exhibition Space

Thai exports hit record $300.53 billion in 2024, with 2-3% growth expected in 2025. Informa Markets highlights Thailand’s frozen and processed food sector as a rising star and is set to elevate ProPak Asia 2025 as a premier trade and business platform for the regional food industry. Industry professionals and leading companies will showcase the latest innovations in food processing and manufacturing technologies. The event is expected to attract over 80,000 attendees, with trade deals exceeding 5.5 billion baht.

Mr. Sanchai Noombunnam, Country General Manager at Informa Markets Thailand, highlighted the recovery and growth trends in Thailand’s food industry. In 2024, the sector experienced a significant rebound, aligning with data from the Trade Policy and Strategy Office under the Ministry of Commerce. Thai exports reached a record-high $300.53 billion, growing by 5.4%. Agricultural and agro-industrial exports expanded by 6.0%, with agricultural products rising by 10.7% and agro-industrial products by 6.7%. Despite ongoing global uncertainties in 2025-such as U.S. trade policies, prolonged geopolitical tensions, exchange rate fluctuations, and climate change-several positive economic indicators remain. These include projected global GDP growth of 2.7%, strong economic expansion in ASEAN (a key trading partner for Thailand), declining inflation, and rising demand for agricultural products for both raw materials and consumption. Key food categories expected to see continued growth include chilled and processed chicken, canned and processed seafood, frozen and dried fruits, pet food, ready-to-eat foods, and canned and processed fruits.

However, businesses must continue to enhance their products and production processes by leveraging research, modern technology, and innovation. This will help improve quality, safety standards, and nutritional value while driving the development of future foods to meet evolving consumer demands. Additionally, adopting sustainable and eco-friendly production processes and business practices is crucial to aligning with the BCG economy model for sustainable growth. This approach supports the government’s efforts to expand trade opportunities and establish new free trade agreements (FTAs) with emerging markets and economic zones. Thailand recently finalized an FTA with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and is accelerating negotiations on several others, including agreements with the European Union (EU), South Korea, Bhutan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and ASEAN-Canada. These FTAs are expected to bring significant benefits to Thailand’s food industry and export sector.

Informa Markets Thailand, the organizer of ProPak Asia, one of Asia’s leading exhibitions showcasing innovations and technologies in machinery and solutions for production processes, processing, packaging, and more across the food, processed food, beverage, and packaging industries, has elevated ProPak Asia 2025 to a key platform for business collaboration, trade negotiations, investments, and building partnerships. The event will also serve as a gateway connecting the food processing and production industries in the region, providing opportunities to share and exchange the latest global knowledge, innovations, and technologies with industry professionals.

The theme for ProPak Asia 2025 is "Carbon-Neutral Pathways to a Sustainable Processing and Packaging Ecosystem." This focus aims to develop strategies that reduce or offset carbon dioxide emissions to achieve carbon neutrality across all stages of production, processing, and packaging. The initiative emphasizes long-term sustainability, including reducing carbon emissions in production processes, using environmentally friendly packaging materials, managing waste, and considering the product life cycle. It also promotes the circular economy by designing products that can be reused or recycled, while encouraging partnerships to collectively reduce carbon emissions throughout the entire process.

ProPak Asia 2025 is not only an exhibition featuring advanced solutions from leading global manufacturers of technology and innovations in manufacturing, processing, raw materials, packaging design and production, along with professionals from across the industry, but it also supports the sustainable growth of the manufacturing industry in the region. The event provides opportunities for attendees from around the world to connect with new business partners.

ProPak Asia 2025 will be held from 11-14 June 2025, at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Bangna, Bangkok. For more information about the event and to pre-register, please visit www.propakasia.com.
