End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
We know sustainability is increasingly important to our attendees and exhibitors, as well as to our market as a whole. Running an exhibition "ProPak Asia" gives us lots of opportunities to improve our impacts environmentally, socially and economically in our region. We want to make our event more responsible and play a role in helping our markets improve its own sustainability through connecting people with the networks and knowledge they want to help solve the big challenges in our sector.
We believe a sustainable event focusses on three key aims:
At ProPak Asia, we aim to accelerate sustainability and be able to run our event in an environmentally and socially responsible way whilst seeking to inspire sustainable development in the Processing and Packaging sectors for the region.
We do this not only because our partners & attendees tell us that they care that our events are run in a responsible manner, but because it is the right thing to do for our customers, colleagues, and the communities we serve.
At ProPak Asia, we are pleased to introduce

As Exhibitor - During ProPak Asia, we aim to accelerate sustainability and be able to run our event in an environmentally and socially responsible way whilst seeking to inspire sustainable development in the processing and packaging across vertical markets in the region. We do this not only because more than 80% of our attendees tell us that they care that our events are run in a responsible manner, but because it is the right thing to do for our customers, colleagues, and the communities we serve. We would like to encourage you to join our sustainability efforts by completing the below 10 point checklist. By working together, we can make the event more memorable, meet our audience's expectations and reduce wasted time, resources, and costs.
As Visitor - At ProPak Asia , we are committed to running the events in a environmentally and socially responsible Manner. Here are some ways you can contribute to the sustainability of the event as visitors.
We want ProPak Asia to help our processing and packaging in various vertical market to inspire sustainable development.
We also want to ensure we run ProPak Asia in an increasingly environmentally responsible manner.
We want to consider how we run our events in a socially responsible manner.
Compensate for the emissions from flight to the event - As part of our commitment to the sustainability, we are implementing a range of initiatives to make the event more responsible and we also want to help others in being more sustainable.
Our goal is to become a carbon neutral event. To achieve this, we are reducing our carbon footprint by increasing efficiencies, powering the event by renewable electricity and reducing the amount of waste generated.
While registering for ProPak Asia you will be provided with the option to purchase carbon offsets to compensate for the emissions produced by your flight. Carbon offsets are schemes that are designed to counterbalance any unavoidable carbon footprint by funding an equivalent carbon dioxide saving elsewhere in the world.
Through paying a carbon offset fee you help others reduce, remove or avoid emissions being generated. The projects supported include Amazonian Rainforest Conversation in Brazil, Household Biodigester Distribution in China, Domestic Energy Systems in India, Teak Afforestation in Mexico, American Grasslands Conservation in USA and Reserve Preservation in Borneo. Learn more about these carbon offset projects at Informa.
These projects bring a whole host of other positive benefits, such as empowering communities and increasing their wellbeing, protecting ecosystems, creating jobs and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
The price for the carbon offset is determined by the quantity of CO emissions that an aeroplane gives off per passenger for a given flight distance. This is calculated from a single journey distance, to then cover the carbon emissions produced by the full round trip. The calculation is based on average fuel consumption data for typical short, medium and long-haul flights. The fees for carbon offsets are determined based on the methodology established in Defra's Environmental reporting guidelines and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting.
We partnered with Natural Capital Partners to ensure support of certified and audited carbon offset projects around the world. All the projects supported are independently verified to assure emission reductions are occurring.
As part of our commitment to reducing our eventcarbon impact, and our journey to Net Zero we are excited to announce that we have purchased renewable electricity for over 90% of our event.
Our event use of electricity generated by fossil fuels, such as coal, has been a significant proportion of our event carbon impact. By switching to renewable electricity, which is generated by sustainable sources such as wind or solar, we eliminate the carbon impact from how we power our event. This make a significant reduction to each of our event event's carbon footprint.
The allocation of renewable electricity generated within each country is traded separately to the cost of using the electricity itself. When buying a "renewable electricity tariff" these two things are bundled together. This means we have been able to estimate how much electricity our events use in each country and purchase the amount of renewable electricity certificates we need to cover our events usage from that country's electricity grid.
Thailand Convention and exhibition Bureau has launched the new standard for MICE Sustainability named "Thailand Sustainable Event Management Standard" or TSEMS. We proudly present that ProPak Asia 2023 will be one of event in Thailand that is working toward achievement in TSEMS standard which will be the first and leading event to apply for this sustainable event standard of Thailand.
ProPak Asia is part of Informa Markets and the Informa Group. Sustainability at Informa focuses on the long term impacts we have on customers, colleagues, the communities we work in and the environment.
Many of our stakeholders are clearly telling us that sustainability (social, economic and environmental) is something that is no longer a nice to have but a necessary part of any event. We want to make sure we're meeting those expectations and we believe that being sustainable is the right thing to do.
We also recognise that it's not just about the way we produce our events and products but recognizing that we have a role to play in providing a space to work in partnership together with our markets to inspire the sustainable development of the industries we serve. This is an ongoing process for us and we're looking for ideas of how we can improve.
